Customer Satisfaction Sires: Potter & Marion
Consistency: one trait that breeders around the world
appreciate and look for when selecting bulls to use in their herds. When
producers find a sire that consistently transmits the traits they value, they often
continue to use him in their mating program. WWS is proud to offer semen from
several of these bulls, labeled "Customer Satisfaction Specialists", including
14HO3597 POTTER and 14HO3831 MARION.
Since
making his debut four years ago, 14HO3597 Keystone POTTER has earned a
reputation for siring long-lasting, trouble-free cows that produce well.
"Potter is the dream of every semen salesman. He transmits almost all the
traits that dairymen are looking for nowadays," says Gregg Topp, a sire analyst
at Accelerated Genetics. "Demand for Potter semen continues to run high and
mostly comes from customers who have used him before."
A fitness trait specialist, POTTER is +4.1 Productive Life,
+2.88 SCS and +1.0 Daughter Pregnancy Rate. In addition, his rating for
calving ease (6%) assures that he can be successfully used in the heifer pens.
Compared to some fitness trait bulls, POTTER has an above-average production
proof at +1,130 Milk. Adding over 2,800 daughters to his proof in August,
POTTER also saw increases for PTAT (+1.68), UDC (+1.68) and FLC (1.20).
POTTER
daughters are medium-sized, balanced dairy cows with adequate width and depth
throughout. They have impressive udders with snug fore attachments and high,
wide rear udders. Potter really does possess the best of his pedigree and
after seeing better than a hundred daughters, the udders are shallow and
well-attached, with great texture, teat length and placement," comments Rus
Robins of WWS Australia, who viewed several POTTER daughters on a recent trip
to the United States. "Potter will give you only one extreme, and that is
extreme consistency."

14HO3831 Veazland MARION-ET reached the top of the TPI list
in August 2005, and also ranked number one for Milk in the United States. He
held these positions for consecutive sire summaries and is still ranked first
for milk yield in the U.K.
MARION adds 506 daughters with the release of the August
2008 genetic evaluation. He is +2,679 Milk, +67 Fat and + 61 Protein. At 2.14
PTAT, +1.87 UDC, +4.98 Rear Udder Width and +3.56 Rear Udder Height, he is
known for siring high quality udders. Dave Erf, the Sire Analyst who acquired
Marion, comments, "His daughters are above average for stature and have plenty
of strength and width. He sires extreme rump width. Marion also stamps out
great udders, as his linears show."
"I was able
to see second crop Marion daughters and was very impressed with their ability
to give such large volumes of milk from neat, functional udders that almost
always have great veining and teat placement," states Rus Robins, WWS
Australia.
As dairy producers around the
world continue to value consistency in their breeding programs, WWS is proud to
offer semen from several bulls that meet this demand and sire customer satisfaction.
